The more I study java
The more it seems like the amount of time it'll take me to actually do anything with Minecraft increases.
So I'm wondering rather than devote complete time on fixing notch's game.
Rather I got an interesting idea in my head the other day.
Why not do what terraria did, take a good idea and slap it into a different format.
Instead of a 3d game or a platformer, an isometric rotatable map.
It will be as an example like final fantasy tactics except it will not be turned based and will involve the ability to change the very map around yourself.

Re: The more I study java
I thought about it a little more and I'm realizing this would yield a completely different game. It would really limit the immediate scale of what minecraft provides but makes up for it by allowing more overall content in a tighter package.
Combat would change entirely into something more pattern-like.
